This keyboard is amazing, my previous keyboard was a Cooler Master Masterkeys Pro L, but it broke down after 3 years. Appears to be a common issue? When I put the smaller black space bar on the keyboard the space key did not stick. The Shine 7 series of keyboards are due for retail availability later this quarter. The feel is different and nice. The second one I received has no issues and came with a year of the pig spacebar that clears properly. I really appreciate the lock warning not being on the caps but over in the area between the Numpad and the volume keys another nice thing. Newer models hopefully have this fixed out of this box. Not like they are additionally weighted down, but just feel extremely solid. I am worried it will eventually start to shave the material off over time. CHIPPING off the frame where I rest my thumb. Just couldn't pass up on features such as how it's made out of zinc alloy, and it comes with PBT Double-shot seamless keycaps. I sent it back and got another and that one had a dead switch as well. Very heavy duty and solid feeling, and the key presses feel amazing on the MX Browns! This thing is amazing. Pros; The keys feel nice too, this is my first Double Shot PBT keyboard, as the CM Masterkeys Pro L was using ABS ones and it comes with USB-C to boot! I recommend the keyboard, yes but I believe it's a gamble whether or not you will get one with decent painting quality. PS: No paint chipping, heard that was an early run issue. I think I'm too slow for faster than light touch typing but I have learned to do it but not fast enough. This is my first Ducky keyboard and the most I have ever spent on a mechanical keyboard. Anyways, this is probably the best keyboard I have ever had in my life, thank god ducky is using double shot PBT, feels so much better to type on. On the Pause key the entire bottom half of the e is not illuminated at all, same for top of e on the Home button. Many other people with low-star reviews complain about their spacebar keys getting stuck. Still, it's not a deal breaker and the board is still aesthetically pleasing. While I understand where being able to set specific timing for each key could be beneficial, having that as the default setting with no way to turn on a system wide default timing mode (same speed as you type is the default) seems strange to me. I have spent $300 on Ducky keyboards in a short amount of time, and the spacebars on both were faulty. My board has been great, but I might have got lucky. I don't think I've dealt with a company with such emphasis on customer service before. Multiple cases of this happening if you do a quick search. They stand a little below the metal case, I pasted a white electrical tape on the metal case under the space bar. I also wanted backlit keys. I have written Ducky support for help on this. I came from some really terrible keyboards. Even if It didn't chip the rating would still be a 5/5. Man, I love the sound and the clickyness of the keys. It's heavy and I love it for that. Ducky revealed a new keyboard on their Facebook page, they called it Ducky Freedom. The keys feel great, and everything works exactly as you would expect it to. I can see a similar issue from what others are saying about the caps and not all the light coming through in the right places for the legends. It feels and looks good. I wanted a menu key to the left of the rightmost control key which is possible to configure through the DIP switches on the back of the keyboard, but once this new configuration is set the menu key acts as a function key sometimes - like when starting the macro recording process - and the function key acts normally at other times - like selecting profiles or color modes. I ordered a new ducky shine 7 and got a year of the rat space bar :D. it arrived on Feb 28th satisfying. But, seeing how I used another major company's keyboard for years that also had a metal top plate painted black, I think a three is fair since it should be reasonably fixable (and, it may have already been fixed on boards bought after mine). Revising back to a 4: I was able to mail my keeb back for a replacement faceplate, it does not scratch with fingernail pressure, had to pay shipping one way but it came back quick, total turnaround time was ~2 weeks. The Spacebar issue seems to have been resolved and the profiles from the software seem to work fine. The product I received was great. My wife is a huge fan, and convinced me to make the upgrade from my corsair. Now you can see the glow from these diodes, but there is no direct light in the eyes. -keyboard design is sleek I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is into gaming and tech. The warning or lock keys are nestled right there and don't bleed any color other than white. This is an extremely faulty, low-quality product in terms of consistency and range. Not as pretty as it should be. - Macro recording key combination ( [Fn Ctrl] for three seconds ) keeps disappearing. Looks outright defective but pulling the keycap and looking shows it is just how these cheap keycaps were made. The Gateron blue switch is amazing and almost identical to Cherry MX blue switch, but on the Shine 7, the Cherry MX blue just sounds better and more enjoyable to type with. In conclusion: It gets a '3'. It also had a section of the lower plastic case that bulged out where it met the upper metal cover. I got in contact with MK who had superb customer service, and they sent me a new faceplate so I could change it myself. My only gripe would be the keycaps. Would buy again, even knowing the key caps need replacing. Uhh, It has a full function row something that was missing on my last two keyboards.
